I am a writer, journalist, poet, and columnist based in the quaint seaside village of Mystic, Connecticut.
In the past, I have had an intense struggle in trying to create a real writing life for myself. I was unhappy in my career, did not feel fulfilled, and knew I had been sleeping on my gift for writing. Absolutely fed up with my situation, I made a complete career shift literally reinventing myself, moved to the ocean, and NEVER looked back!
Having finally arrived (whew!), my journey to a writing life is the culmination of years of experience, research, the gift of writing, reading and a lifetime or being passionate about the craft. Through a certain “knowing” followed by my own personal journey, I have discerned a process for creating a writing life that can be used by anyone with a deep desire to honor their calling by taking their writing to another level.
While my main focus continues to be on writing, my passion for sharing what I have learned in order to empower others to do the same, is undeniable. I have established “Creating A Writing Life” programs, to inspire writers to awaken their creativity and not be afraid to begin that adventure into the unknown. I do this through classes, workshops and retreats that invoke a conversation among like minded souls. By giving talks at locations throughout New England I bring my story and my message to small groups of people looking to further discover their writer within. This program is very personal and intimate, with writing as soul work, bringing depth to the experience of writing, and in a safe, infinitely encouraging environment, the gifts of the writer are revealed.
My column “Around the Town” is published weekly in the Mystic River Press. It shares my adventures of a passionate, literary life along Connecticut's shoreline. My by- line can be found on hundreds of articles in local, regional and national publications. I have had work published in anthologies and have three books in process.
